An Umbrella company acts as an employer to contractors who are working on fixed term assignments.
The umbrella company provides an overarching contract of employment and calculates and pays income tax (PAYE) and National Insurance on behalf of the worker and provides statutory employment benefits like holiday pay and sick pay.
