Like all compliant umbrella companies, we retain what is known as an umbrella margin.  The margin is the amount an umbrella company retains when funds are received from an employment agency or end client for the work you undertake.

Yes, you will be entitled to SSP and holiday pay from the moment you join Workwell umbrella.

As an employee, you’ll be auto-enrolled into our workplace pension scheme though you can opt-out if you wish.  In addition, we provide a tax-efficient salary sacrifice scheme which enables you to make contributions to your own private pension scheme, if you prefer.

Yes. As an employee of Workwell umbrella the following insurances are included as standard.

Public liability – £10m

Professional indemnity – £5m

Employer liability – £10m

If you opt for Umbrella Plus you will also get 24/7 personal accident insurance cover up to £500 per week if you’re unable to work.  This is 24-hour protection so it covers you even when you’re not at work, and is payable for up to 52 weeks on top of other benefits that Umbrella Plus offers.

You’ll agree your payment terms with the agency or end client and we’ll reflect this agreement in the way we pay you.  We can process your pay on a weekly or monthly basis in line with your assignment.  We’ll let you know by text when you’ve been paid, and you can login to our portal to view payslips and other important documents.

As an umbrella employee, we’ll take care of income tax, National Insurance and other obligatory deductions.

You’ll be an employee of Workwell.  You can still switch between contract assignments easily and seamlessly. One of the benefits is that you retain one tax code, so you will build a record of continuous employment which can be helpful when applying for mortgages and other loans.

No, as an employee of our umbrella company you pay tax and National Insurance just like any other employee.  If you wish to look at contracting through your own limited company at any point, please get in touch with our PSC team who will be able to discuss this option with you in more detail.
